Introduction 1:

On an average day, the scientific world moves at the steady pace of research. Incremental improvements of existing systems bring the world forward and increase knowledge, but there are times that breakthroughs change the world. Theories that change the way the world works are not predictable and can only be recognized in retrospect.
RequisiteQ has a patent pending technology that fundamentally changes the process of optimization. While binary quantum quadratic optimization hardware exists, the study of quantum computing was recently shaken as options for continuous-variable quantum quadratic optimization by RequisiteQ. The entangled qubits in the proposed hardware express these optimization problems and are solved not by traditional means, but by thermal annealing of the qubits to produce decoherence in the high-energy equations, leaving the low energy solutions behind.
In short, RequisiteQ uses the nature of interactions with the heat sink itself to eliminate all but the low-energy solutions.

Computational Award Boilerplate:

RequisiteQ seeks funding to finalize simulations informing the mechanical design of the thermal annealing hardware. While the computational results thus far are promising, they are insufficient to select the hardware components appropriate for this cutting edge technology. While thermal annealing is accomplished by placing a processor inside of a fluid bath, the bath and its interaction with the processor must be designed with continuous usage in mind. While initial designs can assume ideal conditions, the annealing system is envisioned as not just a feature for high end machines. In the mid term, annealing adders will be available for consumer electronics.

But [BLANK] is not the only benefit of RequisiteQ’s true thermal annealing quantum quadratic optimization (tQQO). The benefits can be seen by our internal nickname for our technology: “The Strange Predictor.” The ability to predict the future allows RequisiteQ and those who utilize the technology to change the world. Computational:

Quantum computing, combined with RequisiteQ’s thermal annealing process, is poised to increase computational speeds for complex optimization problems over traditional quantum computing, and to make available computational problems that are simply not possible with the binary limitations of the existing systems. 

Medical Informatics: 

Whether protein folding or virus propagation, RequisiteQ’s true thermal annealing quantum quadratic optimization (tQQO) will enable rapid convergence on the true low-energy state of a molecule. Rather than needing to crowd-source millions of people into testing permutations of a protein’s true folded state, scientists can program simulations in their tQQO system to test all possible spaces at speeds unimaginable even on the previous generation of binary optimizations. By leveraging these continuous-variable optimizations, tQQO can find true minima and present them for consideration an order of magnitude or more faster.

Weather:

Quantum computing, combined with RequisiteQ’s thermal annealing process, promises a world where the weather report is the gospel truth. With computations enhanced to an unprecedented speed, the previously computationally intractable answers to ‘What will the weather be like tomorrow?’ become trivial. With simulations capable of computing faster than the weather develops, and updating with new information as it is available, these fast learning models will quickly reach levels of certainty never seen. Climate modeling will follow close behind, and when the models successfully predict a whole year of weather, there will be no need for faith in the world of climatology. Public policy can be informed by data so reliable, even politicians will be able to agree on it.
